Welcome to Las Vegas, Nevada.
Las Vegas is the largest city in Nevada, United States, and a major tourist, shopping, vacation and gambling destination. Las Vegas is the Gambling Capital of the World. What more can be said about the real city that never sleeps, that treats millions of visitors a year, and can cook a good steak at a good price? Only in Vegas, baby! The city has about 480,000 people and the metropolitan area of about 1.5 million people is growing about as steady as the ever-changing skyline. Las Vegas is located in the southern corner of Nevada and is centered between a winter ski mountain resort and a large lake used mostly for boating, jet skiing and camping. The vast open deserts surrounding the Las Vegas area bring high thrills to any off road lover. Too many casinos to name, too many places to see, too much fun. Las Vegas is a treat for all.
Nowhere else can you find a city that has all the amenities that only a complete resort destination can offer: luxurious hotels, fine dining, wonderful live entertainment and state-of-the art convention facilities. Las Vegas is a spectacular city, incomparable to any other. Everything that you would expect from a world-class metropolis, and more, is right here for your pleasure. Las Vegas is a city that has something for everyone. While you are here, make sure to see all the great attractions the city of Las Vegas has to offer. Recognized all over the world, our famous Strip is where tourists can enjoy a walk in the warm desert evening, or take a stroll downtown and view a dazzling light show that spans an entire street - the Fremont Street Experience. You can also get a glimpse of amazing world famous re-creations like erupting volcanoes, the Eiffel Tower and the Sphinx of Egypt. Las Vegas offers top quality entertainment, attractions, shopping and world-renowned resorts. Las Vegas nightlife will keep you up until dawn and art displays, music and museums take you on a journey from the classic to the contemporary. Downtown Las Vegas offers an energetic display of color with a bit of nostalgia and a glimpse of the future. If you are looking to enjoy the Wild West and our great outdoor recreation, beyond the glamour and glitter of our neon lights, we have plenty to see. There are enchanting panoramas in the Red Rock National Conservation area, Lake Mead National Recreation area and at Mount Charleston. All are only minutes from the Las Vegas Strip. Although Las Vegas is the largest gaming city in the world, tourism is centered around the casinos (in the center of town ) leaving the surrounding residential neighborhoods virtually untouched by its presence. Have a great time in our wonderful city!

Las Vegas for visitors: Chef Shawn McClain is Brilliant at Sage at Aria Resort Resort and Casino

Step into Sage at Aria Resort in Las Vegas and you get the feeling that "cool" has been captured and turned into a dining space. You are sure that Frank, Dean, Sammy and Joey would have loved this place. Don't get me wrong there is very little here that screams old Vegas, instead it's more about the atmosphere, the idea that it is okay to grow up and go out to a classy place that serves good food.
New American Cuisine is what Shawn McClain is serving up at Sage and I'll tell you that it is one of those places that is rising to top of my list of must do restaurants in Las Vegas. The drinks are great and the atmosphere make me want to stay longer but the real impressive variable is the staff. Ask someone to give you their opinion of the food and they all share a passion for the dishes they are delivering. When the food arrives you are practically set into a pleasure induced coma.
The menu is seasonal but if you see the scallops that are place upon the oxtail on the menu that is what you are ordering. Start with some Vancouver Island Oysters and have your sever surprise you with a good drink and your Las Vega vacation will have reached its peak.
Do you love to eat? Aria at CityCenter has so many restaurants and places to indulge you'll be forced to extend your vacation. Treat yourself to a few of the restaurants at Aria Resort and put off the quest to lose those 5 pounds until you get back from vacation.

The Guys Are Heading to Vegas, You Coming?

So you get the call, "We're going to Vegas!"
You Respond, "Vegas, Baby!"
Well, you know how that story goes, you pile in for the road trip, you kidnap one friend who has the overbearing spouse, he loses a tooth, your other buddy goes missing and soon there's a naked guy in your trunk, your walking around the strip in dirty clothing and you realize that Mike Tyson probably does have a Tiger that you can borrow. Of course, what goes without saying is that each of you will have to empty your pockets and throw away all the receipts, you'll have to burn your clothing to dismiss any chance of evidence ever showing up and someone will have to tip the three girls who wake up in the bathtub. Also, that buddy of yours who slept the entire weekend at the pool can't wear clothing now because his skin is about as crispy as day old bacon. He's going home naked.
The real question should be, "How many guys are ready to go back to Vegas?"
If the guys decide to go to Vegas this is what you should do:
- Grab a room at Aria Resort, It's new, it's modern and everything you need in one place.
- Hit the pool, Aria Pool is huge and there are plenty of chairs for you and the boys to sprawl out. If you want the adult pool experience you can opt for Liquid Pool, it'll cost you, but the crowd is very ready to break out in a huge party.
- You'll need to eat so consider, American Fish for a comfortable meal that screams open fire and male bonding or go the typical male route and devour some beef at Jean Georges Steakhouse. Multi-task at lunch by catching some games and an incredible Rib-Eye burger at Skybox Bar and Grill.
- You'll be drinking at the View Bar, Bar Moderno and The Deuce lounge but attempt the Dammi un Bacon at Sirio or pound a pint in seven seconds at Todd English P.U.B. A can't miss is the foray into the world of Absinthe at Sage where as was told to me, you'll "want to rub the curtains behind you" as you legally free base Absinthe.
- You'll venture into the evening with drinks and mingling at Gold Lounge and then hit Haze Nightclub. Simply put, you won't have the energy to continue but peer pressure is a good thing in Las Vegas.
Remember, you're in Vegas so make sure to find a seat in the poker room and play a few hands while you and the guys bond over good old fashioned story telling.
Last thing, don't let that guy you know who seems to tell his wife everything come along for the trip. I never enjoy having to explain why 3 girls slept in the tub and I'm pretty sure you won't either.
Want to know how my trip went? Here are the details on my own guys trip to CityCenter Las Vegas.
